Pranayama basics

Pranayama is control of Breath”. “Prana” is Breath or vital energy in the body. On subtle levels prana represents the pranic energy responsible for life or life force, and “ayama” means control. So, Pranayama is “Control of Breath”.

Must close your Right nostril with your thumb

2/8/4     inspiration 2/ Hold your breath 8/ Expiration 4 = master that for 1 month doing it 2-3 times a day for 3-5 minutes before advancing to the next level 

4/16/8   3 months

only then can go to

8/32/16 (advanced technique/don’t push for it/may not be for everyone)

 

At night start on the Left and finish on the left

Before meal start on the Left and finish on the left

You don’t have to do it in lotus position, but your back MUST be straight

 

Bedtime tips

Left nostril should work when you fall asleep (Right might be closed)

Lie down on your Right side. Your Left nostril will open up in two minutes
